2006 NFL DRAFT Update

2004, I picked both the Bills and Falcons picks correctly (first round)

2005, Falcons had a 1^st round pick and the Bills began in the 2nd round

Buffalo Bills

(needs in my opinion in this order)

LB, DB, RB, DL, OL

Screw the OL sucks comments, your ability to run the ball wears down defenses, makes your OL stats better,

Now that Marv is on the scene be prepared for a return of the 3^rd and long draw play, and 8-10 screen passes a game

I was certain that the Bills would take a CB with the 55^th pick last year, they didn’t further aggravating, they took a diminutive WR, then in the third round picked a TE from the same college, Miami U, I gave Donahoe too much credit, he was drafting to save his job, well Roscoe Parrish broke his wrist played only a third of the season, Everett tore his ACL in minicamp, non contact drills.

This year, I will guarantee, that they do not do this again; they will not take a player from a Floridian college.

If, (big if) Hawk is available, they will not be able to write his name on the card quick enough. They WILL take him,

Something tells me that they will be looking for a defensive back

Rich McKay is perhaps the best GM in the league,

There DL is stout,

John Abraham, Patrick Kerney, Rod Coleman are all All Pro’s they have 3 other good DT to rotate in and another solid backup DE

LB are pretty good as well, when MLB Hartwell got hurt they could no longer stop the run, hence their crappy finish, esp b/c the backup MLB was hurt in the preseason, so Brooking had to move in the middle where he is just too small to be effective. But every team is screwed when you have 2 season ending injuries to the same position.

Basically, McKay is great at drafting defensive players, (see Tampa Bay and Atlanta) they do not draft until the 47^th pick cause they traded their #1 for John Abraham and the 93^rd overall.

Well first of all they still should have taken Barnes, 13 games at starter as a tackle, was available when they picked, big mistake.

NFL Draft 2005

Last year I correctly nailed both the Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills draft picks, (see blog post 4/23/2004)

Where I said that the Falcons would take Deangelo Hall and the Bills would take Lee Evans with their forst picks.

It is going to be much harder this year because the Falcons pick 27th overall and the Bills pick first in the second round 55th overall, if I go 2/2 again I may have to really consider being a draft-nik and start my own cable television NFL insider program.

Atlanta Falcons
I do not see them being big time movers and shakers in this years draft. I would be surprised if they moved up any picks, if anything they might trade out of round 1 for extra picks in the later rounds or extra picks next year which they say will be a much better draft overall in terms of talent. This is the year that they protect their 110 million dollar investment Michael Vick.
I say they go offense, specifically offensive tackle and take Khalif Barnes OT, Washington (if available) Their wide receivers are fine, they will be better when Vick looks for them downfield, Their wide receivers are fine, they will be better when Vick looks for them downfield

They will take care of the Defensive line in the later rounds

Buffalo Bills
Forget about MIke Mularky or Ralph Wilson, This is Tom Donahoe's team, THe best thign about Tom Donahoe is that he never allows any of his teams (steelers in the 90's bill's in the 00's) to be dependent on any one player to blow the salary cap because they are so valuable. THey knew Travis Henry was going to have high demands when he rushed for back to back 1300 yards, they knew he would not be worth the money so they drafted McGahee, Sayonara Travis. This year they are going to draft a cornerback with their first pick, why? Nate Clements is in his contract year great player but not elite, which is what he is going to want in his new contract. Elite money. They will draft a Corner to put some pressure on the negotiations and to have a solid backup plan.
Although confident about the position the pick is difficult because it is late in the second round, I will guess Marlin JAckson CB Michigan He may be available then, Don't be surprised by a trade back into Round 1 or early 2 possibly including Travis Henry in the deal to get a higher rated CB.

Just found out the man died this week. They say from a drug overdose.

I had the opportunity to see him three times in Columbus OH, Pittsburgh PA, Buffalo NY
Each time it seemed like he was deteriorating a little bit more. In pittsburgh we were really close to the stage and noticed some serious trembling. His comedy was completely based on timing and wit and an internal rhythm. Unfortunately the more the man drank and did drugs the more away from his routine he got.

By far my favorite comedian, very, very sad and unfortunate that he has left us.

I am very blessed to be able to have one work day a week that I will be able to take off to be with my child when he/she is born. It is not babysitting since I believe that it is impossible to babysit your own child. The day that I will be taking off is funday.

What ever happened to the days when cash was king?

I wanted the title of this post to be the name of the assailant, hopefully I can make it onto a google search for that store.
Ok rarely do I post about specific incidences in my life or specific stories, but frequently I am annoyed by companies, restaurants, taking advantage of customers.

I am ferociously trying to steer my life away from credit terms and agreements, running my life on plastic so I can become part of the demographic, so I can get more relevant targeted sales calls, junk mail. Really it is nobody's business that yesterday I went from FWS to Raymour & Flanigan to Ashley Furniture to Don Pablos to Barnes & Noble and got Gas on the way home (not from the Mexican but petrol for my car, har har) However each one of these stores wanted to quickly determine what kind of line of credit they could give my wife and I. It is not that I have things to hide it is just that some things unnecessarily become the public domain.

So with baby on the way Mr. Dad (typing dad in reference to myself, that is very strange indeed) begins to think "what can a husband do to even approach the magnitude of the gift that your wife is going to give you and the 9 moths of physical and emotional sacrifice" So I decide that nothing equals that but I will save up some resources but considering that we both will be home much more after the baby comes and people will be coming over to visit.
Ah a new furniture set, that will be nice.

We found a beautiful microfiber couch and love seat set at Raymour & Flanigan - Amherst NY chocolate brown very nice. Ok the price is appox 700 couch 600 loveseat. With the "extended service plan" and "delivery" total before tax is about 1500. So the nice woman sits on the couch with myself and wife to begin discussing prices. Her sitting on the couch triggers the sales delivery process or herding in the cattle, whatever you want to call it. She now becomes "good sales woman" she says "well in discussing payment options I will direct you with one of our credit counselors, Oh how great here he comes now" to be known as bad sales man (you know the good cop bad cop routine) accountant looking guy wearing a power suit carrying a brief case trying to be as intimidating as possible. He sits on the couch now (to be on our eye level) and starts punching in numbers and adds the totals for everything and gives us the added amounts. Wow you can add numbers with decimal places, you are a smart man bad sales guy who works at Raymour & Flanigan - Amherst NY. He says we can work on pricing only if you apply for a store line of credit.
My wife says with perfect comedic timing "When did it start being a bad thing to pay for things with cash?" He then goes into his schtick about <1%> So his "deal" became boiled down to we wile give you delivery and the service contract for free if you pay full price for the furniture and open a line of credit in our store. Total 1300. I sit there calm as can be and basically tell him we are comfortable paying 1000 for both no service contract, no delivery needed. (basically 20-25% off the retail price that is already marked up 200%, ) He says "Have a nice day then, good luck finding that" we walked out. Today online microfiber couches are on clearance at > 40% the original retail cost, you can be damned sure that they are still making a nice profit on them. 1000 for both still would have been 100% profit, but they did not care, why is that?
Now to me the next logical question is, when did negotiation and paying cash become a bad thing? Because people feel compelled (myself included) to get what you want, when you want it and who cares how I am paying for it. The negotiations now have become what kind of financing terms can I get, not why are you marking up this item anywhere from 200-400% of your costs, they have no incentive to change this negotiation patterns because there were probably 8 other people after me that were more than thrilled to pay their suggested retail price for the item.
Fair enough.

Ok so in the past 2-3 months I have watched 2 excellent television documentaries on PBS that have really changed, evolved and confirmed my overall perspective on money finances etc.

Who the heck okayed the idea of me being a father,
Why am I drinking something I hate the taste of and other ramblings.

57 days, 9 hours, 48 minutes, 27, 26, 25, 24 seconds until the baby comes.
Who thought this was a good idea, as I sit here I receive a telephone call from my wife, just heading out of the doctors office "everything is great, gained 4 pounds since the last visit" I went back to school on Saturday for the "Birthing Class" learned about what to expect, I turn and looked at my wife and said "who said that it was ok for us to do this?" not implying in the least that we do not want to do this but rather everything you do in your life you have received permission for other than this.
1. Teacher may I go to the bathroom.
2. Mom can you sign my financial aid forms.
3. Bank can I get a car loan.
4. College, am I smart enough to get in.
5. Grad school, was I smart enough in college to get in to your school.
6. New York State, have I satisfactorily met the requirement for licenser in your state.
7. Is my credit good enough to get a morgatage

Nope not this time, "hey baby do you want a third glass of wine"? Hey we're pregnant.
That really is not the truth but you get the idea. My wife and I plan most major events in our life and the preganancy was no accident. Not like I was (i am the result of my dads unemployment and probably looking for a little action to help him "feel better")
It is really really odd though,
what is it about being human that our society willfully developed into getting "preapproved" for everything we do. When it comes to perhaps the most significant contribution you can make to the world, no one has any control over. There is something amazingly peaceful to that. It does not matter whether or not you are in the middle of poverty or wiping your ass with 100 dollar bills a sperm fusing with an egg will occur, and assuming a basic healthy lifestyle, a healthy baby with unlimited potential will arrive 40 weeks later, the only limit to that potential is by not getting the approval from the powers that be.

There are many major things that I like in my life that I originally hated when i first tried it.
So it really does not matter that this unsweetened green tea taste like ass in my mouth right now, i will grow to enjoy it, right?
I like the health benefits that they theorize exists, here are just a few medical conditions in which drinking green tea is reputed to be helpful:

cancer
rheumatoid arthritis
high cholesterol levels
cariovascular disease
infection
impaired immune function

That was the same thing for my

first cup of sweet delicious coffee, it tasted bitter and like what I would imagine something you would use to take the rust off of bolts.

Beer, I easily had to drink the eqquivalent of 2-3 cases of beer before I enjoyed the flavor

Running, oh how I hated you, the boredom, the pain, the out of breath heart coming out of your chest thing.

Cranberry juice, why would you drink something that was so tart?

There really must be a enourmous emotional component to food and tastes, likes and dislikes. You begin to have a couple fun memories associated with beer drinking with friends.
Waiting for Pearl Jam Vitalogy to come out at midnight so you drink coffee at Perkin's anxiously awating you time to buy it.
Convincing yourself when you cannot run any more to go ten more minutes, telling yourself you will not die of a heart attack and think that pain and agony now will be nothing like suffering for your final years of your life in a nursing home like my gradfather did and actually doing it and feeling damn good about yourself for completing a goal no one but you will ever know you did.

Pushing the normal limits and boundaries that life places on yourself, what if you rewarded a toddler with apples not a trip to McDonalds, What if a fun family night is everyone learning to play a musical instrument instead of watching The Simpson's. PLaying football instead of playing Madden 2005. Going to a music festival rather than watching MTV, playing cards rather than onine texas hold'em.

This conversation is rapidly getting lost within itself. No I will not edit this, I am sorry for the difficulty

I am annoyed that when we were at the birthing class >90% of the people in attendance had predetermined that labor was going to be awful, wanted a pre planned epidural/spinal and even worse a cesarian section. The instructor brought out an exercise ball and these people looked in horror when they thought of sitting on it while in the middle of contractions. Closed mindedness is the american poison. Accepting only one alternative as the only correct way of doing things.

Fear is modulated and created only in the brain, pain and nociception come from every cell in your body and are suppressed by your spinal cord and your brain, yes it is true the same column in your spinal cord that carries pain also carries pleasure, S&M anybody?

Fear and anxiety supresses this supression (opens the door) to a greater pain experience. Fear of pain makes pain worse.

This green tea still tastes like ass, but I think that I see that I will in time enjoy the flavor.

Two teenage girls decided one summer's evening to bake cookies for their neighbors. Big mistake. They were sued, successfully, for an unauthorized cookie drop on one porch.
The July 31 deliveries consisted of half a dozen chocolate-chip and sugar cookies accompanied by big hearts cut out of red or pink construction paper with the message: "Have a great night."
Inside one of the nine scattered rural homes south of Durango that got cookies that night, a 49-year-old woman became so terrified by the knocks on her door around 10:30 p.m. that she called the sheriff's department. Deputies determined that no crime had been committed.But Wanita Renea Young ended up in the hospital emergency room the next day after suffering a severe anxiety attack she thought might be a heart attack.
A Durango judge Thursday awarded Young almost $900 to recoup her medical bills. She received nothing for pain and suffering.
"The victory wasn't sweet," Young said Thursday afternoon. "I'm not gloating about it. I just hope the girls learned a lesson." Young said the girls showed "very poor judgment."
But Young, home with her own 18-year-old daughter and her elderly mother, said she saw shadowy figures who banged and banged at her door. When she called out, "Who's there?" no one answered. The figures ran off.
She thought perhaps they were burglars or some neighbors she had tangled with in the past, she said. Young left her home that night to stay at her sister's, but her symptoms, including shaking and an upset stomach, wouldn't subside. The next morning she went to Mercy Medical Center.
The girls wrote letters of apology to Young. Taylor's letter, written a few days after the episode, said in part: "I didn't realize this would cause trouble for you. ... I just wanted you to know that someone cared about you and your family."
The families had offered to pay Young's medical bills if she would agree to indemnify the families against future claims.
Young wouldn't sign the agreement. She said the families' apologies rang false and weren't delivered in person.
The matter went to court.Young said she believes that the girls should not have been running from door to door late at night."Something bad could have happened to them," she said.

Average full time hourly wage, so if the store general managerand other managers makes >16 dollars an hour then all of the grunt worker make significantly less than 9.68. Hmm averaging, No mention to the amount of senority either. Hey Wal Mart how much does someone applying for a new full time job make? Let not f' around with stats here!!
What if you do not work full time? What is the average then?

Playing with averages is a stupid way of presenting this information. When my sister, neighbor and I would fight over what to do when we got home from school we would write a list of what was available. Such as...

The Atlanta Falcons, I have liked them since 1984 when their star player was Gerald Riggs, Steve Bartkowski. Back before ESPN (we did not have cable) Back when the Evening Observer (small town NY with headlines such as "boy who's house burns down has goat stolen" in the heart of Buffalo Bills country) Would only show the box scores. I had to find out what the players looked like by colecting the Topps football cards. Which at one point I traded a Jerry Rice rookie card for about 10 falcons cards to finish the team.

Why the Falcons, I wish the story was better but, at this time the Bills were absolutely awful, 2-14, I loved football we had to listen to the games on the radio because they never ever sold out. I think it was this season when I asked my grandpa, Is it possible that if the other team does a really bad penalty that they can take points AWAY from the other team. Because the Bills were getting destroyed by everyone.
So one day at Hills (department store) I was angry, I asked Mom for a quarter, went to the gumball machine that had the football helmets in said whatever helmet comes out of here will be my new favorite team. Out comes the Atlanta Falcons I did not know who the heck was on the team but they had to be better then who the Bills had.
Come to find out they had only gone 4-12 that season, I never met another Falcons fan until freshman year 1992 after they changed to Black Helmets and drafted Deion Sanders and Andre Rison and had MC Hammer singing 2-legit 2 quit on the sidelines.

They are playing in the NFC championship on Sunday. Keep your fingers crossed.

A challenge to all educators and computer minded people out there

In honor of the 4 month prequel anniversary of my anticipated life as a father.

Study: PCs make kids dumber

Here is the jist. I want to know what everyone thinks about this, I think I agree with this.

“Students who use computers frequently at school perform worse than their peers at math and reading, a study claims.
Those using computers several times a week performed "sizably and statistically significantly worse" than those who used them less often.
The OECD pointed to a positive link between students' interest in computers and their literacy, and Fuchs and Woessmann found that the more computers there were in students' homes, the better their test performance.
However, they realized that more computers in a household generally means a more affluent family. Children from affluent homes tend to perform better academically, so Fuchs and Woessmann factored this in their analysis.
Having done this they found that the more computers there were in a student's home, the worse the student's math performance.
Fuchs and Woessmann found that students performed worse in schools with a significant lack of computers. However, they then took into account that schools with better computer availability also have better resources in general. They found that computer ability was not related to student performance.
They also studied the effects of computer use on test scores, and found that greater use of computers in the home impacted positively on test scores.
In schools the effect was different. Students who hardly ever used computers did a little worse than those who used them between a few times a year and several times a month. But those who used school computers several times a week performed "sizably and statistically significantly worse" in both math and reading.
The researchers suggest two theories to explain their findings. One is 'ability bias' - that it might be that teachers do not want lower-ability students to use computers.
The other theory proposed is that students who use computers frequently do so at the expense of traditional learning methods.”

I admit I am not in the education field (as it pertains to youth and adolescence)
I wonder if teachers use online / computer based education to lessen their burden on lecturing and verbal explanation more than to help the "kids"

is it easier to upload a Nova program explaining basic genetics (with downloadable power point slides printed up) than to actually teach the topic verbally and through textbooks. i am sure that students would want to watch TV rather than read and write notes.

My high school was behind everyone else technologically speaking but I graduated in 1995 and I handwrote every paper i did (because it was easier than sitting at a typewriter with whiteout) Now clearly that is a waste of time, especially with editing, and I would leave misspellings and other gramatical errors in my papers because i would rather do that than re-write the entire thing. THis is not a "it was harder and better when i was a kid you whipper-snapper"

I wonder (other than the utility and speed) the educational benefit of microsoft word automatically correcting misspellings, I really like spell check as an adult but I admit that until 2 years ago I thought business was spelled buisness (type it into Word, it automatically corrects it)
Also another question, to all english based people who read this.

How on earth do you stop plagarism? You can cut and paste anything into word, change the font blah blah blah and have a paper. Give me any topic in the world and I will have a 5 page double spaced report on it in 75 minutes. All fake.
It took much more time to plargarize a paper in high school because you had to type or write out the whole damn paragraph, You had better summarize and change it or you will be writing all day.
Is there a program like "educational based microsoft word" that does not allow cut and paste from the internet, would that work? or a google type page for educators to load a digital copy of students papers to scan the internet for similarities??
You could have kids submit a saved copy on disc/cd/email along with paper copy (do you still use paper copies?) upload them to a site that scans them in comparison to the web.

It is 9:27am on Thursday November 4, 2004 and I am coining a new word to describe future events LegisHate. Inspired and better stated than me in squished like grape.

As I read blogs of people devasted by the events on tuesday (myself included) I challenge all of us, As a pathetically (self imposed) under-represented population not to stick your head in the sand for the next 40% of a decade.

I have never met a democrat or a republican. Most are demblicans or rupublicrats. conservibels or libertives. What we are is a patheticically organized huge f'n voter block who plays playstation 2 on election day.
We are the people 18-35 who are looking to better ourselves through education, seeking companionship, beginning a family, starting businesses, looking for good jobs, trying to buy a home, and save up for retirement, looking to stay healthy.

42% of 18-24 year olds cast a ballot in 2000 the results are much the same this year they say that 10% of the total electorate was 18-25. Had they all voted could have been 20% of the electorate. I cannot believe that on a day when what you think and what you value is more important that what the pope thinks (not eligible to vote) or is equivalent to what the president thinks. I cannot believe the emotions I have been put through over the past 24 hours.
Tuesday AM "I have accepted the fact that Kerry will lose a very close race but I am holding out a 33% chance that he might win"
Tuesday 3pm holy crap the exit polls have come out huge for Kerry, wow even Tucker has said that people do not wait in line for more of the same. Every0ne even Drudge is showing large margin for Kerry.

I really am struggling with the idea that 51% of the country overall think that Bush is their guy.
I am trying to figure out how it has come to this point.
I am struggling to figure out why no imcumbant NYS assemblymen or senator lost.

My only early conclusions is this.

American's continue to be afraid. Most americans are afraid of most if not all of these

Afraid of terrorism
Afraid that somehow we are not secure
Afraid that our guns are going to be taken away from us
Afraid that taking the word god out of the pledge of allegiance will somehow degrade our country
Afraid of anyone of non christian faith
Afraid of anyone not born in the United States
Afraid of anyone with any pigment in their skin (irregardless of citizenship)
Afraid that Medicare or Social Security are somehow going to be taken away from us, (in an old cranky voice "I want prescription drugs" )
Afraid of anything but the status quo

The difference in this election was more than who best calmed their fears but rather the candidate who instillled the most fear in the alternative candidate. Ladies and Gentlemen 4 more years.

I have 4 more years of saying, Don't complain to me, I voted for the other guy.

Well, I was a little bit concerned during the preseason about the whole Vick looks terrible thing. I have to say that although he still looks quite uncomfortable overall with being a QB in the new system.
Here is a quick breakdown of his passes,
9/131 1TD tight ends
5/80 1TD fullbacks
2/2 running backs
11/131 wide receivers
This is pretty indicative of a QB who quite does not know who to throw to yet, he really only has one WR that he has played real significant time with and that it Finneran, Basically he is flying around disrupting the necessary timing for the offense but completing 66% of his passes, using his 2nd, 3rd, 4th options, who fortunately are very good, Crumpler and Griffith and his amazing scrambling ability.
I am very encouraged about the Falcons this season and into the future, Mora looks like a very good coach primarily as a defensive mind, anybody who can make that defense a top 20 defense has a pretty good aptitude for it.
Vick is only going to get better in this offense. More yardage and pass attempts to the wide receivers will be necessary for Atlanta to be a playoff team, I always thought Peerless Price was a mistake, (1st round pick for him, hmmm probably the best he can be is a 1a wide receiver) he will never be a true #1. He needs a real solid complement to excel, he is killed by double coverage. Play Jenkins.
The second half of the season I expect the offense to get much better. Fortunately I really would not be surprised if they were 6-2 headed into the second 1/2 of the season. Arizona next week, Carolina afterwards minus Stephen Davis and Steve Smith (will be close & tough b/c Carolina is coming off a bye week 2 weeks to prepare) should win 2 of the next 4 Detroit, SanDiego, KC, Denver,
This makes Atlanta 6-2, the second half will be much harder for them, if they go 3-5 then that makes them 9-7 and a possible playoff berth. Let us hope.

Terrible Terrible Terrible, I really think that right now, with Losman in a cast, he is more mobile and less scared than Bledsoe, We are seeing the end of Bledsoe's career right now, Very likely he will suffer the same fate as Jim Kelly, wheeled out on a cart. Losman will start the second half of the season, he better, we are already playing for next year. Give McGahee between 1/3 to 1/2 of the carries because he will be the starter next year, he will need the experience, Everyone thinks that the Bills will be out of the first round in next years draft but that is not true, Henry will be traded for either a 1st or a (2nd and 3rd) in the draft

The draft occurred last night I drafted 7ih out of 12 teams, snaking order. You need to start
1 QB, 3 WR, 2 RB, 1 TE, 1D, 1K

R1 D. McAllister
I had him ranked #3 overall, so I was quite happy he fell to me here. Surprise in round 1. Donovan McNabb was selected at #6. Shaun Alexander completely fell to the #12 pick, Way to go greezyfizeeks.
R2 M. Harrison
I told myself if I got one of my top 3 RB then I would take a WR in round 2, I had to choose between him and Tory Holt. Only time will tell if I made the right move, I think Bulger will have a hard time getting the ball to Holt considering the terrible O-Line.
Surprise in round 2, 5 WR were selected in this round. I am very lucky stayed with my plan here, I was thinking about Chris Brown or Domanik Davis at this spot. I would have not had a Top 5 WR and Top 5 RB on my team had I not picked Harrison here (which was very important to me)
R3 D. Davis
Thanks to the 5 additional WR's selected after Harrison the RB I wanted in R2 was available here. That really worked out well for me. I liked selecting my players between even to odd rounds because I was able to choose 2 players before Eli4Heisman2021 picked anybody. That rat bastard read my mind on multiple picks (at least 3). Surprise in R3 two TE were selected, I promised myself that I would not take any TE before R7.
R4 A. Brooks
So as R4 begins I am very surprised to realize that 10 WR are off the board and 7 QB are gone too. I wanted to have 3RB by R9 and I already had 2 quality ones. All i needed was a solid backup (since only 2 a week can play and score points for you) So I needed to get some good WR/QB here before they are gone, My top 4 QB were gone, I had Brooks ranked as a great pick here but I think (and still do) that he would have been available in R5 since there were only 2 other teams besides me that did not have a QB yet, but they would each pick twice before I picked again so I took Brooks. D. Jackson C. Rogers and A. Johnson were all available here, I would have liked any of them instead, Time will tell. Surprise of the draft happened right after my pick The Smoking Madman (who must have been smoking) Selected local TE Mark Campbell here. We all got a good laugh out of that, I think we would have laughed if that pick was made in R12, let alone R4.
R5 J. Walker
Now I NEEDED, to get the best remaining WR at this pick, all signs pointed to Javon Walker, 3rd year WR, I also considered B. Lloyd and D. Stallworth. Who knows? I secretly saw that RB Quentin Griffen was available still, how could he still be here? I could not take another RB here; I only had one WR drafted. If he is there next round, he is mine. Rat Bastard Eli4Heisman2021 found him and took him 5 picks later. Dammit, I HATE that. Surprise R5, the team that took Mark Campbell in the last round took S. Janikowski, this round. Wow that’s all I can say
R6 T. Barber
Since Quentin Griffen was gone I had to decide who was the best remaining RB, I had to choose between Tiki Barber and Kevin Jones. I think this might have been a mistake, but I took experience over potential. I hope I am right. Now I had my 3 RB by R9 goal done by R6. There were no real surprises in R6
R7 D. Stallworth
As the round begins there are 3 players still hot on my Radar, Alge Crumpler, D. Stallworth (considered him in R4) and Kevin Jones. I wanted a TE in about R7 if the right one was available. The Top 4 were gone; Crumpler my #5 was still there. I could feel that those Yager Bombs were going to snag Alge when he asked, does the TE get alot of action in the West Coast Offense. Damn it, I was right, he took Alge with the first pick of the round. So my pick comes up, I had to take a WR to finish out my starters who would get me points every week over a #4 RB Kevin Jones who I was enamored by with a big upside (I kind of felt this way about a rookie RB only one other time, when Tomlinson came into the league) Also added bonus is every time Stallworth catches a touchdown it is double points because my QB throws it to him, gotta go with the double touchdowns, key to winning close games. Surprise of this round another kicker off the board, I was determined to take my kicker in the last round only. Rat Bastard Eli4Heisman2021 found Kevin Jones and took him 5 picks later. I called this pick out loud.
R8 Carolina
Took a D here because there was a run on them to start the round, I try very hard to maintain my own plan but I wanted an above average defense. I really wanted to get a TE here, thought about taking Boo Williams but I did not, I probably should have though. I was right about the Defense run, 1/2 of the league took a defense in this round. I would have been thrilled to get Kevin Jones here but it did not work out.
R9 J. McCareins
Quite surprised when my pick came up and I saw J. McCareins still available. I was going to take a TE once again but there was really no one spectacular left so I gladly took my #4 receiver.
R10 J. Delhomme
I was really screwed at this point in the draft, I was disappointed that I had no TE, had to deal with one I did not care for, figured that I would get one when i got one, this overall sentiment led me to get my backup QB J. Delhomme. I should have taken Carson Palmer or Mark Brunell.
TRADE ... J. McCareins for A. Crumpler
As R10 ended we had a 5 minute break, I said that I really liked Yager Bombs selection of C. Palmer, said I should of picked him instead of Delhomme. He said he really likes McCareins. So I think I offered but it might have been him. I say I'll trade you Alge for McCareins straight up. He agreed, we are both happy.
R11 K. McCardell
R11 is a good place to make a reach on a player, I figured that McCardell will play sometime this year and be a very good player (if he was in camp he would have been a R5-R6 pick) Hey what the hell, lets go for it. T. Calico, R. Smith, or M. Muhammad would have been my picks had they not been taken in the prior 12 picks, that kills you when you see your boys hopping off the board like that.
R12 C. Garner
Needed my 4th RB, 5th WR and 1st K (I predetermined this) Quite surprised to see Charlie Garner a clear cut starter still available, Travis Minor was the only other starter still around. Amazed that there were still 2 starting RB still hanging around. Took the best player available.
R13 E. Kennison
Both of KC starting WR were still available in R13, Chose the #1, hey who really knows what you will get at this point in the draft.
R14 J. Brown
Kicker for Seattle, hey they will score lots of points, play in the weakest division. He will do well for me I think.

So that was my draft, Overall I am happy with it, If i had to do anything differently I would have got at least 1 more proven receiver, like a Jimmy Smith. But all in all not too bad. I think I will win the $240.00 with this team.

there, thats better, whoa that was a close one. Hey DIck, what does terrorism mean? Somebody told me that terrorism really cannot be ended because it is such a loosely defined term, it seemed to make sense when they were explaining it. [Dick} Just tell the dumb americans what they want to hear, forget truth and reality, don't forget to throw in the line about John Kerry being -pro- terrorism. That line is really working.

As defined by the FBI, "the unlawful use of force against persons or property to intimidate or coerce a government, the civilian population or any segment thereof, in the furtherance of political or social objectives". This definition includes three elements:
(1) Terrorist activities are illegal and involve the use of force.
(2) The actions are intended to intimidate or coerce.
(3) The actions are committed in support of political or social objectives. (FEMA-SS)

This is a perfect example of stupidity. Here is what this really means in my opinion.
If the FBI thinks someone is breaking the law and using force when they do so, then they are terrorist.
Honestly, are we terrorist?
1. The United Nations did not authorize the war in Iraq, (illegal and involving the use of force)
2. We are actively involved in regime changes, i.e. Liberators and "Installing liberty"
3. GW has said that he is doing Gods will i.e. social objectives.

Another question...

Who really thinks that the Kerry/Edwards ticket is really going to do anything dramatically different in Iraq? Is there really a dramatic difference between the 2? Kerry/Edwards have said that they would have attacked Iraq too. (i think that is because the invasion is a very popular in the public opinion polls)
Please, They are 4 quite idealogical different people, trying to "nip tuck" themselves into the same person ... a moderate. Whoever gets there first will win,

unfortunately, i think it will be Bush/Cheny via the swift boaters and insulting the other party and touting this "look at me, I am strong, the worst event on our soil in 125 years happened on my watch and now watch me kick everyone's ass" to keep focus off of the true differences...

In my married life I always pre approve all purchases with the "old lady" (that is an endearing term for us, not derogatory) I honestly cannot remember the last time I bought something selfishly for myself only. So on Monday the wife said, lets wait until Friday.

So yesterday rolls around (Wednesday), damn I am out of work, it is 3pm with nothing to do but go home and get another day older (ok ok we had tons of laundry, dishes, my work clothes unhung on my dresser, and a 5 day old Direct TV system with Tivo to play with)

I will run to Target and buy the forbidden game 3 days early. So back to the story.
After I say "I would like Collectors Edition Madden 2005", oh and do not forget to ring out my 2.29 dollar bag of Cheetos (I love the entire collection of the 'ito family) I can hardly contain my smiles and excitement. I felt like I was 12 years old when I walked into Hills and saw that the had Super Mario Brothers 3 in stock.

Unfortunately, what actually made it a little bit better was that I actually knew that steam was likely to come out of my wifes ears when she came home and saw me playing the game after I agreed to wait until Friday.

Do I have a real explanation for this dysfunctional thought, absolutely not, I am actually kinda disappointed in myself. I think that because I knew on some miniscule level, she actually thinks this is cute, and is actually thinking it cute as she reads this post.

So back to what you were waiting for, my review.

The game play itself is very similar, the playbook, the player moves, the training camp etc. The rosters are updated but Ricky Williams is still in the league.
Defensive controls are MUCH better in this game, rather than having Keith Brooking in man to man coverage on a fullback when it is unlikely that he will get the ball (3rd and 20) you can select him, and change his assignment to blitz, enter into a zone coverage or spy the QB. Pretty nice, and it really does make a difference.

The tackles and broken tackles work much better (more realistic) and the overall feel of the game is much smoother and more realistic.

The only negatives about the game are these thus far.
1. EA is reaching the limits of the PS2 capabilities. The loading times are slower and what is worse navigation through the options in the game and choosing new plays sometimes pauses as the instant replays and game recaps load up. This is 25-30% worse than Madden 2004.

Madden for PS3 will be unreal when it comes out though..

My ratings are based on the amount of bleeding finger blisters you will get playing this game.

I think the quote "results matter" should be changed to "reactions happen", it would be more accurate. Oh to his defense, he once illuded to national security. Here it was.

A couple notable quotes.

What ever happened to news reporters?
I do enjoy reading editorials, I actually like them when the are called editorials rather than, "News", "truth", "no spin", "right"

I watched the Bill O'Reilly, Michael Moore interview/debate, (click video tab and watch it)(as the site says "This is a partial transcript from "The O'Reilly Factor," July 27, 2004 that has been edited for clarity." What say you clarity?
It was very interesting indeed. Both made good points, I did not however watch it live. I was at a neighbors house who were watching Fox, O'Reilly was on he talked about the interview, He played a limited clip where at first glance it looks like Michael Moore is completely "schooled" by O'reilly. The clip ends, seamlessly Bill continues to talk about it, Michael Moore really looked bad. Now in fairness he says to go online and see the whole interview. Ok who does this? Other than super nerd me? Michael Moore is too articulate and intelligent to look that bad.
And fox touts itself as fair and balanced?
All I want to understand is this. Please help me,

Until we have a media source that is not for profit, free from needing to collect advertising dollars and free from the political FCC machine this will always be a problem.
Why concentrate media into 8-9 major hands? So they can turn around and support candidates financially in political elections, so as a thank you by the elected ones we will continue to allow media conglomerates to grow, Only if, ONLY IF you do not show "The Reagans" on network television, Black Rappers on stage during the super bowl (Toby Keith is ok though), We will begin to allow pharmaceutical companies to spend a great % of their budgets (billions) to market and advertise on television and radio. "Ask" your doctor if Levitra is right for you, You do not want to be a pussy in the bedroom do you? If your doctor doesn't agree find one who will. They are a quack if they do not prescribe medicines anyway, can't they see that these drugs are safe, they advertise them on television and report them on the news. (195,000 people in the hospital died last year from medical errors, this does not even include Drs Offices and Outpatient FAcilities) "this country needs a comprehensive prescription benefit in the medicare program" "we need drugs from canada" bullshit, we need to get pharmaceutic companies off of television and radio. Ok thanks for softening those rules, we will not play the Dixie Chicks on any of our radio programming and further we will kick howard stern off the air as soon as he goes political, Hey great. Nearly 1,000 Thongs, Panties Stolen From Victoria's Secret

BRIDGEWATER, N.J. -- Police in Bridgewater are not having much luck finding the person who stole nearly 1,000 thongs and panties from Victoria's Secret.
It's been a week since $22,000 worth of underwear disappeared from four bins below a table at the Bridgewater Commons store.
The store has no cameras or security personnel.
The panties were all the "Body By Victoria" style and included low rise, hipster, bikini and thong. They are subdued in color.
Police say the quantity indicates it wasn't a typical shoplifting incident.

Pizza Crust Bridges and other Musings

Ok so last night at dinner we were having a homemade pizza, (Something that we have done for quite a long while)Well the routine is this, I stretch out the dough and bake the crust, the old lady (the artist formerly known as fiance)shreds the cheese, cuts the vegetables.
Anyway, I was unavailable at the time, On my television the Falcons were playing the Tampa Bay Bucs, minus their starting QB. The Falcons were on there way to a 100 point game, Clearly I could not be separated from this monumental occasion.

Well without mozzarella Cheese (used them for stuffed shells) without experienced dough boy. This operation was doomed from the start.

Do not ever walk across any bridge that my wife builds with Pizza Crust, She is a poor crusty engineer. Now before you continue reading I want it known that she is an excellent cook, I thoroughly enjoy her cooking 38/40ths of the time (maybe I am exaggerating here, more realistically 9.5/10) The stress loads of the heavy cheese and the 15 pounds of topping created a Leaning tower of Pizza (I have always tried to use that joke in a legitimate story, one more thing off my life long to do list)

So I take the pizza to work today, try to eat it cold, pick up the pizza, toppings fall off, I look down and I can see through the crust to my plate, so thin and soggy it was translucent, I still think it is wiggling around in my belly.

Well some of you might say
1. You should have made the Crust instead of playing video games.
2. You should have put the pizza in your toaster oven at work.

Well to those questions I reply with this, I did not feel like it, feel sorry for me anyway.
Its just that I have such rare occasions to make fun of the wife, I need to take advantage of every opportunity. Next story by pay per view only, See through ravioli

Ronald Reagan's family is criticizing the use of the late president's image in a conservative political ad that aligns Reagan with President Bush and attacks Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry.
The ad by the conservative interest group Club for Growth, which is to begin airing Wednesday, compares Reagan's battle against communism with Mr. Bush's war on terror, showing footage of Reagan at the Berlin Wall and Mr. Bush at Ground Zero. It also claims that Kerry was "wrong then, wrong now" on national security.
Kerry campaign spokesman Chad Clanton also criticized the ad. "It's pretty sad that less than a week after America said farewell to President Reagan, George W. Bush's supporters are politicizing it," Clanton said.
Club for Growth president Steve Moore defended the ad's timing, saying it was intentional because the public had been reminded for days about "Reagan's philosophy of peace through strength."

In a statement online, the Sinclair group said the "Nightline" program "appears to be motivated by a political agenda designed to undermine the efforts of the United States in Iraq."According to campaign finance records, four of Sinclair's top executives each have given the maximum campaign contribution of $2,000 to the Bush-Cheney re-election campaign.

The executives have not given any donations to the campaign of Sen. John Kerry, the presumptive Democratic nominee, the records showed. Sinclair owns and operates, programs, or provides sales services to 62 stations in 39 markets, according to its Web site. In addition its ABC outlets, Sinclair's television group includes 20 Fox, 19 WB, six UPN, three CBS and four NBC affiliates, and two independent stations. It reaches approximately 24 percent of all U.S. television households, according to the Web site.

ABC Nightline Pre-emption

The ABC Television Network announced on Tuesday that the Friday, April 30 edition of "Nightline" will consist entirely of Ted Koppel reading aloud the names of U.S. servicemen and women killed in action in Iraq. Despite the denials by a spokeswoman for the show, the action appears to be motivated by a political agenda designed to undermine the efforts of the United States in Iraq.

There is no organization that holds the members of our military and those soldiers who have sacrificed their lives in service of our country in higher regard than Sinclair Broadcast Group. While Sinclair would support an honest effort to honor the memory of these brave soldiers, we do not believe that is what "Nightline" is doing. Rather, Mr. Koppel and "Nightline" are hiding behind this so-called tribute in an effort to highlight only one aspect of the war effort and in doing so to influence public opinion against the military action in Iraq. Based on published reports, we are aware of the spouse of one soldier who died in Iraq who opposes the reading of her husband's name to oppose our military action. We suspect she is not alone in this viewpoint. As a result, we have decided to preempt the broadcast of "Nightline' this Friday on each of our stations which air ABC programming.

We understand that our decision in this matter may be questioned by some. Before you judge our decision, however, we would ask that you first question Mr. Koppel as to why he chose to read the names of 523 troops killed in combat in Iraq, rather than the names of the thousands of private citizens killed in terrorist attacks since and including the events of September 11, 2001. In his answer, we believe you will find the real motivation behind his action scheduled for this Friday. Unfortunately, we may never know for sure because Mr. Koppel has refused repeated requests from Sinclair's News Central news organization to comment on this Friday's program.

I remember each news organization showing and reading the names of every person in the weeks after September 11, 2001.

Before I went to work this morning on the CBS morning show they read and showed pictures of all the American men and women who died in combat just this month. It went on for 10 minutes. Everyone who died has a family, friends, someone who cares about them. How many Iraqi's died this month? Do we have enough time?
I have a very good friend from college who I have lost touch with since my time at UB who at last check was a commanding officer of a tank battalion. I lived with him for a year. I just kept praying that his name would not come across the screen.

When the war began you would hear that 4 soldiers died in combat this week. It was very painful to hear, then everyday 10, 12, 5, 6, 7 more we're now into the 700's you lose perspective. You get numb to the magnitude of what is happening. My entire high school did not even have 400 people. 8 CVCS graduating classes have died. That means something.
You know what, bring back the damn draft, put the CEO of Sinclair's sonn or daughter in harms way. Put laura bush on the front lines. It is easy to make the decisions when it is someone elses family heritage and legacy on the lines. GW esteemed military record versus Kerry come one, move on.

How is photographs of caskets coming home with american flags on them with soldiers saluting them disrespectful.

2004 NFL Draft Report - for those who want to know

The Atlanta Falcons
Will draft defense in the first round.
I will further predict that if available they will draft DeAngelo Hall cornerback from Mike Vick's alma mater Virginia Tech in the first round.

The Buffalo Bills
They will do something out of the ordinary, I do not know who, but I think they are going to take a second tier WR with their high draft pick. I think it will be Lee Evans from Wisconsin. I think he will be a good pick but they could have gotten him at the end of round one.

The only television program that I actually look forward to watching weekly, and I might add the only show in quite a long while that I have watched regularily in a real long time is 24.
American Idol took 24 off the air for 6 weeks, it triumphantly returned for 2 weeks then this.
Stupid George Bush and all of his stupid announcements (also insert cover up's if you like) about how safe the world is and how great Iraq is now. All of this means nothing because... 24 has been moved from its regular time slot. I hope the press asks GW why he is making a concerted effort to piss off 24 viewers?

Hit by a car!

Does that grab your attention? I would hope so, now that I have your attention i have some news for you... I was hit by a car yesterday at Wegman's. So what that it was only .125 miles per hour when he hit me.
I was loading groceries into my car when this old gentlemen pulled into the spot next to me and hit me in the leg. He did not even know he did it.

The worst part is that this is not the first time I was hit by a car. Lucy Republican ran over my right foot with her buick somerset on Newell Road in Sheridan, I cannot wait until she runs for political office. She is screwed.

It was always my dream to bump someone with my car as they were crossing a street, now that it has been done to me I do not think it is so funny, GO FIGURE!

OPEC and their own efforts to create a "regime change"

Maybe I am a mudslinger and I have read no reports supporting this assertion but...
I think that if GW was a little bit more considerate of world afairs and opinions, perhaps, just perhaps OPEC would not be cutting down on oil production during an election year. An election year in which the incumbant president led our nation into virtual world isolation and taking the cowboy approach of taking the law into our own hands.
Message to king george II, if you want to be the world power and control all world activities, start investing the 80 billion dollars finding WMD's and new oil sources and spend it on hydrogen power so we truly do not need to be so dependent on these axis of evil countries.
If i have to pay $3 a gallon for gas this summer to elect Kerry (ie anyone else but GW) than i guess i am a political contributor.

Chicken Grease on my $7.99 Kung Fu Fighting Shirt

Sounds like the beginning of a terrible first date night.

Believe it or not, chicken grease is the icing on the cake of a great local event last night as a woman on stage dancing threw a chicken leg fast ball and blasted me squarely in the sternum. (I was waiting for the hanging slider). As I watched Southern Culture on the Skids I thought of the multiple ways in which people are able to express their adoration of the playing band.
If you fall into any of these categories do not be insulted this is just observational.

1. The person who holds the Hawaiian I Love You Hand position while declaring outloud to himslef "I love you guys" or "You guys rock"
2. The person who is wearing the concert t-shirt from 1994 of the same band. This person is likely to be wearing this shirt and treating it like a badge of honor.
3. The person who refuses to call the band by the bands name while referring to the members by a first name basis... to ANYONE within a 5 foot radius of them, friend or stranger, like they are best friends or something. "Jerry is wearing different birkenstocks today"
4. The person who boldly and out loud sings every word of every song played at the show. (if you only sing the chorus of a select part of select songs such as in "Piano Man" you are still annoying but not as bad, be careful here because there is a fine line that carries over into obsession.)
5. The person who boldly and out loud air guitars to every portion of every song played at the show (if you only air guitar major aspect of the song such as "Smoke on the Water" you are exempt from this classification)
6. The person who boldly and out loud plays the air drums and beat boxes to every drum portion of every song played at the show (if you only beat box the drum solo such as the beginning of "Hot for Teacher" you are exempt from this classification)
7. People who almost to the point of anger pump their fist in the air to what they believe the beat is while knodding their head in affirmation of how great their band is playing.
8. Peolpe who know at any point of the night the 4 places this band has played before the event and the 3-4 afterwards and they tell everyone of this brilliant information.
9. People who know the set list of an act before the show because they looked it up online.
10. People who have an absolute look of panic on their face when they stage lights are left on and the band walks off and could not be happier or more "suprised" when they walk back on stage 30 seconds later. For the love of god have you ever seen a band not do an encore, calm down.

I AM WRITING FROM THE FUTURE!!!!

Yes you read correctly, I jumped into my time traveling machine and have the precise moment when american "i put 25 minutes of content into a weekly 2.5 hour special, keeping 24 off the air for 6 weeks" idol jumped the shark.
It happened March 23, 2004. I remember the day like it was yesterday. I was frantically flipping the channels for anything else to be on other that damn american idol (i actually was watching UPN and the God channel, what can i say i was desperate)
What do my wandering eyes appear, 11 rediculous sellout singers ... where the hell is my beer?
They were all sitting by a pool saying how bored they are and there is nothing to do. When Cujo (fashion guru for Access Hollywood) the "lifeguard" appears and says something to the effect of you will have more fun if you wear some old navy clothing and sing and dance around the pool. Holy SHIT a commercial within the damn show.
What TOOLS the cast is.
The only thing they needed was to actually have an inflatable shark in the pool and have all of those damn tool fools ride a pink bike with a banana seat and a basket try to jump over the pool. Wow.

All i want to do is check the clearance rack at Old Navy for 9.99 Jeans but i am forced to walk past multitudes of rediculous stores, i.e. "do you have any cracks in your windshield?"
"do you have any crack cocaine?" geriatric gap, baby boomer gap, Gen X gap, COllege gap and pre teen gap, a baseball card shop, a catholic outlet store, furniture store and 99 versions of taco bell to get there. Drives me crazy. I think that is why Merrit winery thrives in the mall because you need to be wasted to survive.

Cable, same story, now i confess I am one of about 4 people in a 3 mile radius of my home that CHOOSES not to subscribe and pay out the ass for a hundred channels of BS when all i want is
1. ESPN, ESPN2
2. CNN
3. TLC
4. The discovery channel
5. VH1
6. MTV (of the 1980's)
7. Local Networks that i get on the rabbit ears at my home already
8-12 others

Let me choose what channels i want, Lets see how well the The Interactive Horseracing Network (i.e. Off Track Betting from home) or the Hallmark Channel does on its own. LET THE PEOPLE CHOOSE. Survival of the fittest. Perhaps if each channel costs 3 dollars a month and we could choose, it would inspire some of these rediculous networks to put on some programming that does not in the spirit of beavis and butthead "suck". I challenge the Interactive Horseracing Network to get off of ESPN's nipple.

I Love My Lawyers

This is of course no disrespect to the many friends and family who are or about to become one but.....

Driving to work this morning ahead of me was a mid 90's full size blue buick with a bumber sticker that said "I Love My Lawyers." That is all, My first thought was What a rediculous statement, It must be some sort of joke, So I illegally sped up to see if there was a younger sarcastic looking person driving but nope, 65-70 YOWM. I guess i am the only young looking sarcastic person driving a huge blue buick. I equate this bumper sticker to one saying "I just passed my prostate examination" A necessary but rarely advertised statement.

Then I started to think about how much it would suck if you rear ended this person and the first thing you saw was a bumper sticker saying "I love my lawyers" You are shit out of luck buddy cause you're getting sued. So i quickly backed off that guy and stayed about 1 mile away from him.

Then I started to think that maybe this was this guys intention all along, a modern educated mans version of "tailgate me and i'll flick a booger on your windshield" Yeah that must be it. Perhaps he gets a discount on his automobile insurance as well, hey where do i get one of those?

3. 75% of the states need to agree to amend the constitution

Is my computer a delorian?
Ok here is my first observation. Why is it that every time I turn on the radio, I hear the same five songs, 15 times a day, for three months? No really it is about time that we all begin to take some responsibility for the digital time stamp on all of our emails and blogging. I know for sure that I did not type the last message at 7:43 pm. I was shooting and missing turkeys at the local bar.
I highly doubt i receive emails from my wife on GMT+01:00 Amsterdam, Berlin, Bern, Rome, Stockholm, Vienna,
The time signature should either be reliable or something else needs to be done really severe!! Why can a latex horse anal-ly probe and open up my computer but i cannot trust what time someone emails me.
Let me give you a fictional account on how this can be annoying.
(RT = realt time, DUCT = damn unreliable computer time)
